The Valley News this morning as the lead story in their morning email digest reported on Hartford, Vermont Selectboard’s contracting with Alex Torpey of Rethink Local to facilitate the search for their new Town Manager.
Hartford interviewed three organizations – Rethink Local, Vermont League of Cities and Towns, and Municipal Resources, Inc – and ultimately selected Rethink Local.
The Valley News reported:
For Selectboard member Tim Fariel, Torpey is well-respected as a consultant and able to provide a fresh perspective.
“The Board at-large is impressed with his skill sets, so we felt like that just kind of complemented what we’re trying to do this time,” Fariel said Monday by phone.
With deep knowledge of municipal operations and management, recruitments, as well as Hartford and the Upper Valley region specifically, and having worked with Hartford and the Vermont League of Cities and Towns last year facilitating a workshop for Hartford’s Selectboard, Alex is excited to get to help the Board and community in this next endeavor. Finding a new Town Manager is one of the most decisions a Board can make, and Rethink Local has a tested process that helps match great candidates on budget and on time.
Rethink Local recently completed the Town Manager search for Waterville Valley, New Hampshire, and was hired back by Waterville Valley to assist with recruitment efforts in their utility/wastewater department. Rethink Local is also currently on contract with Alex as the Interim Manager in Rockingham and Bellows Fall, Vermont, with Randolph Vermont providing planning/zoning services, and on a separate contract with Hartford, Vermont to develop an asset inventory and capital plan.
