Last week, stakeholders from across Vermont gathered to work together on ways to support rural resiliency and planning efforts around the state aimed at addressing housing shortages, affordability, regional collaboration, climate resilience, and more.
I was there both in general and in my capacity under contract with the Town of Randolph for planning and zoning services. It was great to se many colleagues and friends, and appreciated the small-group discussion format that allowed people to really dig into important topics.
A surprise was seeing a slide thrown up as the conference organizers were highlighting best practices in different discipline areas from around the state. This one was about ways to help recruit more staff to work in local government in Vermont. It showed Rethink Local’s latest recruitment, for the Town Administrator in Westford, Vermont, as an example of media-based, interactive and engaging recruitment profiles.
Part of what makes our recruitments unique is not just the interview process on the Town side, but the engagement process on the candidate side. Our goal is to make clear, accessible, and engaging profiles and materials that help spark interest in among potential candidates and help excite people who could be a good fit. The slides are below, and you can learn more abourt the conference and organizers: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/reimagining-rural-capacity-summit-verta-tickets-1761313930379. Thanks for highlighting our work!
